Add the first mix to a project
Add an audio file to an empty project, enter useful track details, and check the upload status.
Before you start
You need an existing project and Owner or Editor access to it. Have one mix in MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, or FLAC format.
If the file is already in your Library, you can add it without uploading it again.
1. Open the project's file picker
- From Projects, open the project.
- In an empty project, select Add Files to Project. The empty state shows No tracks added yet.
If the project already contains tracks, select Add Songs at the top of the project instead.
2. Choose a file
The Add Files picker lets you choose an existing Library file or upload a new one.
Add a file from your Library
- Browse from Home or open a Subfolder.
- Select the file.
- Select Add Selected.
This links the existing file to the project. Mixhaus does not upload another copy.
Upload a new mix
- Select Upload in the picker.
- Choose one MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, or FLAC file.
- Continue to Add track details when the dialog opens.
Selecting several files or dropping files into the picker starts uploads immediately and skips the details form. Choose one file with Upload if you want to name the track and add metadata before it enters the project.
3. Add track details
For a one-file upload, Mixhaus opens Add track details while it prepares the upload.
- Check Name and edit it if needed. Mixhaus starts with the filename without its extension.
- Add Tempo (BPM) and Key if you know them. If either field is already filled in, check the value before continuing.
- Add optional labels in Tags. Type a tag and press Enter or select Add.
- Select Upload to confirm the details. Mixhaus may show Finishing upload... while it commits the file.
You can fill in the fields while the upload runs. The status can show Preparing upload..., Uploading while you add details..., Upload ready. Confirm to add it., or Finishing upload....
4. Check the upload
After you confirm the upload, the picker closes when the transfer starts. The project can show a pending upload row with progress while Mixhaus finishes.
When the upload completes, the mix appears as a track in the project. Mixhaus shows Track added with the message Your upload is ready in this project.
A Library file appears in the project after you select Add Selected.
Common problems
The file format is not supported
Choose an MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, or FLAC file. Mixhaus shows File not supported or Some files are not supported when a selected file is outside those formats.
The upload fails or expires
If Mixhaus reports This upload expired. Select the file again. or says that the network connection was lost, return to the picker and select the file again after the connection is stable.
A failed upload does not add a track until the upload is confirmed.
You cannot add a Library file
The file and project must be available to the same account. If an existing Library file is not available in the picker, upload the mix while viewing the project.
You only have Viewer access
Viewers cannot add files. Ask the project owner to give you Editor access, or ask an owner or editor to add the mix.
You closed Add track details
Closing the details dialog before you confirm cancels the pending upload. Select Upload again and complete the details form.
What happens next
The project now has a track with its current version and any details you entered. When you are ready to share it, switch to Review & Delivery and choose the version to send.
