Leave timestamped feedback
Add a comment to a moment or short range in a shared mix on desktop or mobile.
Open the private review link and select the track and version you want to discuss. You do not need a Mixhaus account. In a project review, select a track in Shared with you to open its player and feedback area.
Comment on a point
On a computer:
- Find the moment on the waveform. You can play the mix first, or select the waveform to seek there.
- Right-click the waveform at that moment. Mixhaus opens a comment composer and shows the selected time.
- Enter your note in Add a comment....
- Select Post. Press Enter to post, or press Shift+Enter for a new line. Press Escape or select Cancel to close the composer.
The note appears in the feedback list and as a marker below the waveform. Select a marker to open its note, author, time, and any replies.
Mark a short range
On a computer, hold Shift while you press the left mouse button on the waveform. Keep holding the button and drag across the passage, then release. A highlighted selection shows the start and end times. Enter your note and select Post.
Mixhaus saves a selection of at least a quarter of a second as a range. A very short selection becomes a point comment. You can drag in either direction. Mixhaus stores the earlier time as the start.
Type a timestamp
Typing a timestamp is the easiest way to add timing from a phone, or whenever a mouse gesture is inconvenient. Use the Add feedback... box below the player, include a time in the note, and select Post feedback.
Use these forms:
0:42attaches the note to 42 seconds. At 0:42, bring the vocal down.attaches the note to 42 seconds and keeps the sentence as written.1:10-1:18attaches the note to the range from 1:10 to 1:18.1:10 to 1:18attaches the same range.1:02:03attaches the note to 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 3 seconds.
Write the start of a typed range first. A range whose end comes before its start is rejected. If you include more than one time without - or to between them, Mixhaus uses the first time as a point.
The feedback list shows a time button such as 0:42 or 1:10 - 1:18. Select it to seek to the start of the note and play from there.
Read and reply to comments
Comments belong to the version that was selected when they were posted. Change the version with the Review version dropdown or the version list and the player shows that version's feedback and markers.
Select a waveform marker to open its note. If a reply box appears, type in Reply... and select Reply. Press Enter to send the reply. Press Shift+Enter to add a line break. Replies stay in the same comment thread.
Add feedback on a phone
The review page works in a phone browser. Tap Play, tap the waveform to move to a moment, then type a timestamp in Add feedback.... Tap Post feedback. Use 0:42 for a point or 1:10 to 1:18 for a range.
The right-click and Shift-drag gestures need a mouse or trackpad. Typed timestamps work on any device with the review link.
If a comment does not post
Keep the text in the composer or feedback box and try again when your connection is stable. A failed post leaves the form open and shows the error. If a typed range is rejected, rewrite it with the earlier time first, for example 1:10-1:18.
If you changed versions before posting, check the player subtitle and version selector. The comment will attach to whichever version is selected when you post it.
