Add stems and extra files to a delivery

Before you start

Open a project's Review & Delivery view and select Prepare delivery for a draft package or Update Final Delivery for a published one. You need project management access on a Pro or Studio plan to upload stems, audio, or package-only files.

Use attached stems when they belong to one project version. Use Add audio for an extra audio deliverable that is not an existing project candidate. Use Add package-only files for documents, artwork, checksums, or ZIP files that the client only needs to download.

1. Add stems to a version

1. Open Projects, open the project, and select Review & Delivery.
2. Select the track whose version owns the stems.
3. Select Prepare delivery, or select Update Final Delivery when the track is already delivered.
4. In Package, select the audio row to open its details. You can also open its options menu and choose Show stems and details.
5. Under Attached stems, select Add stems.

The dialog is titled [version name] Stems and says Upload, review, rename, download, and remove stems for this version. Select one or more audio files and choose Upload Stems. The button shows Uploading... while the files transfer.

The picker accepts audio files, including WAV, MP3, AIFF, FLAC, and M4A.

After the upload finishes, Mixhaus shows Stems uploaded and the message The stems were added to this version. Close the dialog and expand the same package row. The new files appear under Attached stems.

The stems stay attached to that version. Selecting a different version in the delivery does not move the stems to the new version.

Review or rename existing stems

Open Add stems again to manage the version's existing files. Select the stem options menu and choose Rename, Download, or Delete. Renaming changes the display name while keeping the file extension for the download. Download All prepares one ZIP containing the stems in the dialog.

2. Add extra audio

1. In the delivery editor's Package section, select Add audio.
2. Choose one or more supported audio files.
3. Wait for the upload to finish.

Mixhaus adds each upload as a delivery-only audio item and selects it for the package. A delivery-only item does not require a project review approval. Use this for an instrumental, clean edit, alternate master, or another audio file that should ship with this delivery but is not a reviewed project version.

Add audio accepts MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG, and FLAC files.

Review the new row before publishing. Open Version choices if you need to remove it from the package. Delivery-only audio remains selected when you turn off Include unapproved versions.

3. Add package-only files

1. In Package, select Add package-only files.
2. Choose a document, artwork file, checksum file, or ZIP that belongs in the delivery.
3. Wait for the status to move through Preparing, Uploading, and Checking file to Ready.
4. Open Advanced and check Include [file name] in delivery when the file is ready.

Package-only files have no playback. They are included in the downloaded package when Downloads is enabled in Client access. Mixhaus blocks publishing while an added file is still checking. If the upload fails, choose Retry and select the same filename and size.

The picker accepts AIFF, WAV, Wave64, ZIP, PDF, text, CSV, checksum, JPG, PNG, and TIFF files.

4. Arrange the package

Open Advanced and find Package structure.

1. Edit Downloaded package name if the default folder name is not useful to the client.
2. In Package contents, select New folder and name the folder.
3. Choose a parent folder to make a nested folder, or leave Package root when the file belongs at the top level.
4. For each file, use its filename field and folder selector to set the display name and location.
5. Drag files into order or use the move controls.

When no custom package manifest is present, Mixhaus uses an automatic layout for attached stems. In the current editor, new entries start under Package root, so assign stems to a folder if you want them nested under their parent track. Custom folders and filenames override the fallback placement. The client sees the saved folder tree under Package contents in the portal, while the ZIP uses the saved names and order.

5. Save the changes

• Select Save draft when you are still assembling an unpublished package.
• Select Publish delivery to make a new package available to the client.
• Select Update delivery to replace the contents of a published package.

Mixhaus queues a package build after each save. Keep Downloads enabled in Client access when the client needs the new files. If you update a published package, send the client a separate note about the change because the update does not repeat the original publish notification.

Expected result

The delivery editor lists the selected stems, audio, and package-only files. Each ready extra file can be included in the package, and Package contents shows the order and folders you set. The client can play supported audio when Playback is on and can download the complete ZIP when Downloads is on.

What happens next

Open Prepare and publish a final delivery to confirm the audience and publish the package. After the client has had time to download it, use Check what the client downloaded.

Common problems

The stems are not listed in the package

Check that you uploaded them from the correct version row. Stems attach to a version, not to the project or track as a whole. Close the stems dialog, expand the same row again, and refresh the editor if the upload completed but the list has not updated.

Add stems is missing

You may be viewing a read-only delivery or a plan without delivery editing. Ask a project owner or editor with Pro or Studio access to add the stems.

The file is still checking

Wait for the package-only file to show Ready. Mixhaus does not publish while an additional file is Preparing, Uploading, or Checking file.

Retry does not accept my replacement

Choose the same filename and size as the failed upload, then select Retry again. To use a different file, remove the failed upload and choose Add package-only files.

The client cannot play an extra file

Package-only files are download-only. Turn on Playback for supported audio, or tell the client to use Download package for documents, artwork, ZIPs, and other additional files.

A file appears twice in the ZIP

Mixhaus keeps both entries and adds a suffix such as (2) to the later path when two files resolve to the same name and folder. Rename the entries in Package contents if the distinction is important to the client.
