Search audio in your Library
Find tracks in your Library by name, filename, tags, BPM, key, privacy, ownership, or recency.
Before you start
Open Library in the account that owns or has access to the track. Search checks that account's Library, including files shared with you.
1. Open track search
- Select Search in the sidebar.
- Or press Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on other keyboards.
The Track search dialog opens with the search field focused.
2. Search by name, filename, or tag
Type at least two characters. Search is case-insensitive and checks the track name, filename, and Mixhaus tags. The placeholder in the field is Search tracks, filenames, or tags.
Embedded audio tags that you can read in File metadata are not Mixhaus search fields. Add a name, BPM, key, or Mixhaus tags when you upload the file if you need those values in Library search. See Add searchable audio metadata.
Wait for the results to finish loading. Each result can show its filename, folder, role, privacy, current BPM, current key, and Mixhaus tags.
3. Add filters
Select the Search filters button. Set one or more of these filters:
- BPM range narrows results to the current BPM values in the range.
- Key accepts one or more exact values, such as C, F#, Am, or F#m.
- Tags lists tags found in the current result set. Select more than one tag to require every selected tag.
- Ownership switches between Any, Owned, and Shared.
- Privacy switches between Any, Private, and Public.
- Recency switches between Any time, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, and Last 90 days based on the file's last update.
The filter button shows the number of active filters. Select Clear filters to remove the advanced filters while keeping the text in the search field.
4. Open a result
Use ArrowDown or ArrowUp to move through the results, then press Enter. You can also select a result with the pointer.
Mixhaus closes the dialog, starts the selected track in the player, and opens the track's Library folder. The search text and filters stay in the URL, so you can return to the same result set. Shared results may open at Home rather than the owner's folder.
Expected result
The selected track is visible in Library, and its current version is ready in the player. The result list still has the search state you used.
What happens next
Use Play audio in your Library to control playback. If a track is missing a useful search value, use Add searchable audio metadata. To check which values are stored on a version, read Inspect audio metadata.
Common problems
No tracks matched the current filters
Check that you are signed in to the right account. Enter two or more characters, then select Clear filters. If the track is shared with you, leave Ownership set to Any or choose Shared.
A tag is not available in the Tags filter
Tag suggestions come from the current result set. Clear the text search or make it broader, then open Search filters again.
A key search returns nothing
Choose the exact value in the Key filter, including the minor suffix when it is shown. A blank current key cannot match a key filter.
Search found the file but opened Home
Mixhaus keeps the owner's folder path private for shared files. Open the result from Home, or use the track workspace link in the result destination.
