Use batch actions in your Library
Select several Library files or folders, then download, move, share, add to a project, or move them to Trash.
Before you start
Open the Library folder that contains the files or folders you want to work with. Batch actions apply only to the items selected in the current account Library.
Owners can use every applicable action. Editors can download or add items to a project, but only owners can move or delete items. Viewers cannot run Library batch mutations.
1. Select files or folders
In list or grid view:
- Select a row to replace the current selection. Select the only selected row again to clear it.
- Hold Cmd on macOS or Ctrl on other keyboards while selecting to add or remove one item.
- Hold Shift while selecting to select the contiguous range between the focused item and the new item.
Folders can be selected with files. The toolbar shows N items selected when the selection is active.
2. Use keyboard selection
Move keyboard focus into the Library list or grid. When no dialog is open and focus is not in a form control, these shortcuts work:
| Key | Result |
|---|---|
| Cmd/Ctrl+A | Select all visible items |
| ArrowDown or ArrowUp | Move keyboard focus |
| Shift+ArrowDown or Shift+ArrowUp | Extend the selection from the focused item |
| Space | Toggle the focused item |
| Enter | Open the focused file or folder |
| Delete or Backspace | Open the delete confirmation |
| Escape | Clear the selection |
Library pauses these shortcuts when a dialog is open or focus is in an input, textarea, select, button, link, or editable text. Space and the Up and Down arrow keys control the file selection while the list or grid has focus. Move focus outside the explorer to use those keys for playback.
3. Choose a batch action
Use the buttons in the Selected items actions toolbar.
- Download selected items downloads one selected file directly. A selection with more than one item or any folder downloads as a ZIP. The download uses the current version of each file.
- Add selected items to project opens the project picker. Selecting a folder resolves the files inside it. You must be an owner or editor for every selected item.
- Share selected items works only when exactly one file is selected, and you are its owner or editor.
- Move selected items opens a folder picker. You must own every selected item. The destination must be in the same account Library.
- Delete selected items opens a confirmation for the selected items. You must own every selected item.
Disabled buttons mean the selection contains an item or role that cannot use that action. Narrow the selection or ask the owner to perform the action.
4. Move a selection
- Select the files or folders.
- Select Move selected items.
- Choose a destination in the folder picker. Use Home, the breadcrumbs, or Up to navigate.
- Select Move Here.
Select New Folder in the picker when the destination does not exist. The new folder must have a name without path separators.
Mixhaus blocks a folder from being moved into itself or one of its subfolders. Choose a different destination if the picker shows Cannot move selected folders into themselves or their subfolders.
5. Move a selection to Trash
- Select the owned files or folders.
- Select Delete selected items.
- Check the Are you sure? confirmation.
- Select Delete.
The selected items leave Library and move to Trash. They remain recoverable for 30 days before permanent deletion. Open Trash from the sidebar to restore an item before the retention period ends.
Expected result
The selected action runs against the files or folders you chose. A successful move refreshes the current folder, a successful delete removes the items from Library, and a download starts in your browser.
What happens next
Use Search audio in your Library to find a file after it moves. Use Play audio in your Library to hear a selected file before adding it to a project.
Common problems
A batch button is disabled
Check the roles on the selected rows. Owners can move and delete their own items. Owners and editors can download or add items to a project. Sharing needs exactly one selected file and owner or editor access.
Move Here is disabled
Wait for the destination folders to load, then choose a folder in the same account Library. You cannot choose a selected folder or one of its subfolders.
Delete did not remove an item
Only owners can delete. If the confirmation reports a partial failure, refresh Library and retry only the items that remain. Check Trash before trying the action again.
I selected everything but some files were not included
Cmd/Ctrl+A selects all visible items, not items in other folders. Open each folder or select its parent folder before running a batch action.
The selection disappeared
Refreshing the folder or navigating to another path can remove items that are no longer visible. Select the current rows again.
