Play audio in your Library
Start a track, seek through it, adjust volume, change repeat or shuffle, and manage the playback queue.
Before you start
Open a Library, project, or track workspace that contains an uploaded audio version. Playback starts from the active version when you play a Library or project track.
1. Start a track
In Library, select the play icon beside a file. You can also select a result in Track search. The player appears along the bottom of the desktop window, or as a compact player on mobile.
To hear a specific older version, open Version History and select that version's play button.
2. Use the player controls
- Select Play or Pause to start or stop the current track.
- Click or drag Seek playback position on the waveform to move through the track. The player shows the current time and duration.
- Select Previous track or Next track to move through the queue.
- Select Mute volume or Unmute volume. On a wide desktop player, drag the Volume slider for a precise level.
- Select Toggle shuffle to choose tracks in a shuffled order.
- Select Repeat off, Repeat queue, or Repeat current track. The repeat button cycles through these modes.
- Select Open queue to show Play Queue. Select a track to play it, drag tracks to reorder them, or remove a track from the queue.
3. Use playback shortcuts
Playback shortcuts work when focus is outside form controls and other interactive elements. In Library, the focused file list or grid keeps its overlapping selection keys.
| Key | Result |
|---|---|
| Space | Toggle play or pause |
| ArrowLeft or ArrowRight | Seek 5 seconds backward or forward |
| Shift+ArrowLeft or Shift+ArrowRight | Play the previous or next queue item |
| ArrowUp or ArrowDown | Raise or lower volume by 5% |
| M | Mute, then restore the previous volume |
| S | Toggle shuffle |
| R | Cycle repeat mode |
| Home | Seek to the start |
| End | Seek to the end |
If you are typing in Track search, using another control, or selecting files in Library, that focused area keeps its keys. Move focus outside the Library list or grid before using Space or the Up and Down arrow keys for playback.
Expected result
The player shows the current track, its progress, and the controls that match the current queue. Selecting another queue item updates the player without closing the page.
What happens next
Use Search audio in your Library to find another track. Use Use batch actions in your Library to download or add several files to a project. If you need to confirm the active version first, read Inspect audio metadata.
Common problems
The player is not visible
The player stays hidden until a track starts. Select the play icon beside a Library file or choose a search result.
An arrow key changed a form field instead
Playback shortcuts pause while focus is in a form control or other interactive element. In Library, the list or grid also keeps its selection keys. Move focus outside that area, then try the playback shortcut again.
Next stopped at the end of the queue
With Repeat off, playback stops after the last queue item. Select Repeat queue to wrap to the first item, or select Toggle shuffle to choose another queue item at random.
I need to play another version
The Library row plays the active version. Open Version History and select the play button on the version you want to hear.
Playback does not start
Select the track again and check that you still have access to the file. If the file was moved to Trash or your shared access ended, ask the owner to restore access or choose another track.
