Approve a mix or request changes

Choose the exact shared version you are deciding on, then approve it or ask for another pass.

Last reviewed 4 September 2026

Listen to the exact shared version you want to decide on before selecting an action. A decision belongs to that version, not to every revision of the track.

The selected version and its current decision state sit directly below the decision buttons.

Check the version

  1. In a project review, select the track under Shared with you. Check its version label and status.
  2. Use the Review version dropdown or Revision timeline to select the revision you mean to decide on. Latest shared means the newest version the studio sent you.
  3. Read any message from the studio and review the comments for that version. If you need to point to a moment, add timestamped feedback before deciding.

If you are comparing revisions first, see Compare two versions of a mix. Return to the review page and select the version you want before using a decision button.

Make your decision

  1. Select Approve version when this exact revision is ready.
  2. Select Request changes when the studio needs another pass. Add a comment that explains what to change so the studio can act on it.
  3. Wait for the confirmation. An approval shows Version approved and the review says Version approved. The studio is preparing final files. A change request shows Changes requested and the review says Feedback sent. The studio is preparing another version.

You can update your decision later. Select the version again, then choose the action that reflects your current decision. Mixhaus keeps the comments and review history with the relevant version.

Submit a project review

If the review contains several tracks:

  1. Review each track and make a decision where one is needed.
  2. Check the project summary for the approved, need changes, and waiting counts.
  3. After you add a new comment or decision, select Submit review.

The project review is submitted after Mixhaus confirms the action. If you already submitted the same review without adding anything new, add a comment or make a new decision before submitting again.

Who can approve

The designated project approver sees Approve version and Request changes. Other active project contacts can still listen and comment, but formal approval is reserved for the approver.

If the project has no active designated approver, any active project contact can make the formal decision. If the buttons are missing when you believe you should be able to decide, use the email address the studio invited and ask the studio to check the project approver and contact access.

A standalone review that is not linked to a client project may allow the reviewer on that link to decide. The controls on the page show who can submit the decision.

Expected result

The person who shared the review receives your decision. Approval moves the work toward final files. A change request tells the studio to prepare another version. Downloading or listening does not count as approval until you select Approve version.

What happens next

After approval, the studio may publish a final delivery in your client portal. See Download final files when it appears. After a change request, keep using the same review link to review the next shared version. Earlier comments remain attached to the versions where you made them.

Common problems

  • The decision buttons are missing because you are not the designated approver, your contact access changed, or you used a different email. You can still comment. Ask the studio to confirm the approver and invited email.
  • If the review asks for a password, enter the current password from the studio. A wrong password shows That password is not correct.
  • If the link has expired, been revoked, or is unavailable, ask the studio for a fresh link. A fresh link does not remove the existing comments or decisions from the project.
  • If Submit review is disabled, add a comment or decision first. If Mixhaus says Add a comment or decision before submitting the review or Make a new comment or decision before submitting again, follow that message and try again.
  • If the submission still fails, refresh the review and try once more. The page shows Could not submit the project review when the submission cannot be saved.
