Compare two versions of a mix
Use the shared playhead and A/B controls to hear what changed between two revisions.
Open the review link from your studio and select the track you want to compare. You can compare only the shared versions of that track. Private studio drafts do not appear here.
Choose the versions
- In a project review, select a track under Shared with you. In a single-track review, the player opens with the shared track.
- Select the Review version dropdown or a card in the Revision timeline. The version marked Latest shared is the newest version the studio sent to you. It may not be the studio's newest private draft.
- Select Compare versions beside the player. The button appears when the track has at least two shared versions.
The comparison opens with two revisions from the same track. Use the Version A and Version B selectors to choose any two shared revisions. If you choose the same revision on both sides, Mixhaus swaps the sides so they remain different.
Listen at the same point
- Wait for both waveforms to load. Select Play on either waveform to hear that version from the shared playhead. Mixhaus pauses the other version at the same time.
- Select or tap either waveform to seek. The other waveform follows the same time.
- Select Switch A/B to hear the other version without losing your place.
- To repeat a passage, select Set loop start, seek to the end of the passage, and select Set loop end. Select Clear loop when you are done.
The time shown below the waveforms is the shared playhead position. A loop applies to both versions, so you can compare the same passage repeatedly.
Expected result
You can hear the two revisions against the same playhead and switch between them without creating a new file or comment. The comparison is a listening tool. Your normal comments and decisions still apply to the version selected in the review page after you close the comparison.
What happens next
Close the comparison and use the Review version dropdown or Revision timeline to select the version you want to discuss. To attach a note to a moment, see Leave timestamped feedback. When the mix is ready, see Approve a mix or request changes.
Common problems
- Compare versions is missing when fewer than two versions of the track are shared with you. Ask the studio to send another revision to the review.
- An earlier private draft does not appear in the dropdown or timeline. Only versions the studio selected for this review are available.
- If one waveform shows Failed to load version, close the comparison and open it again. If the error continues, refresh the review and check your connection. One side can remain visible while the other loads or reports an error.
- If the review link says it has expired, been revoked, or is unavailable, ask the studio for a fresh link. You cannot restore that link yourself.
